You could win a first edition by Anthony Burgess in our Blue Plaques competition
The bid for a Blue Plaque on Anthony Burgess’s former home at 24 Glebe Street in Chiswick has been turned down again, even though A Clockwork Orange is the cover star of 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die! We invited people to suggest other Chiswick authors who deserved the accolade.
Thanks to everyone who has entered the competition. See Blue plaque competition: the winners
Entries closed on October 1st 2021. The best nomination, as chosen by the judges, won this first edition of Devil of a State by Anthony Burgess (right), kindly donated by Stephen Foster of Foster Books, which sells rare books in Chiswick High Road. The competition was sponsored by Bown Design & Build.
To comply with English Heritage criteria, the author must have a connection with a London building; have been dead for at least 20 years; and not have a blue plaque already.
